What are the police doing in Ocho Rios but creating problems for motorists and shop owners, in their ill conceived efforts to streamline taxi and bus operations.
The two previous superintendents of police including the last one Carlton Wilson have tried and failed to get the transport operators and commuters to use the bus park which is overgrown and generally filthy and also generally unsafe.
Yet the police including the new man in charge of St Ann continue to use the same tactic. They must get the same result: failure. They send cops on bicycles and on foot to the area around the clock and to that gas station whose premises is trespassed on daily with the very dangerous practice of it being used as a bus terminus and taxi stand.
As soon as the taxi operators see the cops they have their other spots where they go and wait on their passengers who know where to find them. When that happens you can’t get parking at those business places and there is congestion in them. It’s about time we should start taking the police and the taxi operators to court over this business.
Just in case the police don’t know the spots these are they:
• Infront of Great House Pharmacy
• Island Dairies Outlet
• Juici Beef Patties (at Newlin Street)
• Simonds Plaza
• Exit at Square One Supermarket
• Infront of Better Deal Wholesale
• KC Supermarket/Quick Shots
• Top of Short Lane
• Cole Lane (closest to Mothers Patty)
The police surely know about the one next to the station before New Hope Pharmacy
